The different scenes in the film is mainly laid to two locations. Here we try to describe them and
at the same time give you the back story to why they was chosen:
Airstrip
An old and seldom used airstrip was used as the background to the scenes where the films "Godfather",
Don Pasta, hires the two assassins to get rid of Hardcastle. This place was chosen
because of its solitary location, which is needed for this kind of shadiness businesses. It gives the
audience the feeling that we are far out in the forest, but at the same time it has a very open range
that works fine in front of a camera lens. Actually this location had been used in an earlier movie
by AOC; the acclaimed horror/sci-fi Odjuret. But that film took place in the winter when the
snow laid knee deep, plus that it was filmed in another direction.
House
Outdoor
The outdoor scenes of the house contains two different parts and fills no other purpose to the audience
then to letting them know where "we are". The first part is just an introduction to the home of Hardcastle,
where the house is filmed in different angels and directions. But this also filled the
purpose of letting the audience know that in the second part when the two assassins approaches it really is
Hardcastles house that they enter.
Indoor
The scenes takes place on all three floors; basement, first and second floor. When we are
introduced to John Hardcastle for the first time the camera travels through the front door,
in to the hallway and then further in to the his bedroom where we find Hardcastle sleeping.
As he awakens we follow him in to the kitchen where the audience see signs of the party that took place
the evening before.
The next time the film occurs indoors is when the two assassins enters the building through the basement
door, while their victim is located in the bathroom on the second floor. This approach made it possible
to let the two "hit men" sneak around in the house, investigating near enough every room, before
encountering Hardcastle on the second floor. The struggle is shortly after that brought down
to the first floor, where the first hit man is taken care of in the living room. The fight sequence
with the second hit man takes place in the basement, namely in the boiler room, and it is also here
that the film ends.
During all of the filming indoors the focus was on the actor and not on the surroundings. The
actors literally had the camera in their face. This was not as much a choice as it was a necessity.
Due to the fact that we were filming in a actual house we were restricted by space, so this was pretty
much the only way to shoot the film.
