Here follows a description of the two cars that was used by the characters in the film. You will
be able to read about why just that car where used together with some technical specifications
of each vehicle:
Volvo 240 Turbo
Production Year: 1984
Engine: 4-cylinder, 155 hp
Gear-box: 4-speed + overdrive
Acceleration: 0-100 kph in 9,0 sec
Top Speed: ~195 kph
The Volvo was used as the "limousine" that the Godfather of organized crime himself where using.
Okey, we are the first ones to admit that this wasn't the perfect choice, but we were left with no other
option. The fact that we had used all other available cars in other movies and that we had a budget that
was slim to none, resultet in that we had two cars at hand - the Volvo and the Saab. And frankly, out of
two bad choices, the Volvo was best suited for this assignment. A fun anekdote is that when one of the
bodyguards walks up to the car to tell Don Pasta that the hit men had arrive. Olsson, who was playing
the role of the Godfather, was suppose to "fake" that the Volvo was equipped with electrical window
openers. See for yourself in the film if he succeeded.
Saab 99
Production Year: 1983
Engine: 4-cylinder, 80 hp
Gear-box: 4-speed
Acceleration: 0-100 kph in 15,2 sec
Top Speed: ~145 kph
The two assassins known as The Chemical Brothers needed a cool car that could match their crazy and
outrageous lifestyle. Sadly enough their was only one car available since the Volvo was used as the Mafia
car. But even if the Saab doesn't mirror the personality of the two hit men, it had to be used since their
was no other car available. Actually the car was used without the owners permission. It belonged to one of
the actors girlfriend, who at the moment was out of town. However we think the car worked out fine in the few
scenes that it was in, and the aggressive driving style that you will experience in the film, brought
a hole new dimension to this silver bullet known as Saab 99.
